AirMap Welcomes Peter Diamandis, Reggie Govan and Christian Janke to Advisory Board

We’re excited to announced the addition of three new members to the AirMap advisory board: commercial space innovator Peter Diamandis, former FAA Chief Counsel Reggie Govan, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Christian Janke.

Dr. Peter H. Diamandis is a pioneer in innovation, incentive competitions and commercial space. One of Fortune’s “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders” in 2014, Peter is the Co-founder of the Space Adventures and Zero-Gravity Corporation; the Founder and Executive Chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, best known for its $10 million Ansari XPRIZE for private spaceflight; and the Co-Founder/Co-Chairman of Planetary Resources. As a member of AirMap’s advisory board, Peter will bring his insight and imagination to low-altitude airspace, as AirMap works to open the skies for drones.

Reggie Govan, former FAA Chief Counsel, has played a pivotal role in shaping public policy on the cutting edge of aviation technology, and is one of the architects of the United States’ regulatory framework for commercial drone operations and performance-based rule-making. Before joining the FAA, Reggie spent more than 30 years as a corporate counsel, counsel to committees in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and a litigator.  Reggie brings a deep understanding of the rapidly evolving regulatory environment for unmanned aircraft to AirMap as we work with global stakeholders to build an innovative, safe, and secure drone ecosystem.

Christian Janke is an expert in unmanned systems, robotics, and autonomy. Christian is an Assistant Professor at the College of Aeronautics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide Campus, and a Research Fellow at the European Aviation Security Center. He also served for fourteen years in the German Armed Forces as a military helicopter pilot and public affairs officer. Christian’s research interests include the development of new drone applications, drone regulation, counter-drone technology, and unmanned systems security, autonomy, and data protection. As a member of the advisory board, Christian will bring this deep knowledge and experience to the future development of the AirMap platform.

On behalf of the entire AirCrew, please join us in welcoming Peter, Reggie and Christian!
